ROLE SCOPE

This role has overarching accountability for the Commercial Group of MBS. This includes oversight of business development, account and bid management, student careers services and the Asian region.

Reporting to the Deputy Dean, the Executive Director Commercial will be responsible for:

  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the School’s strategic plan and objectives, involving collaboration across the School’s functional divisions as well as an organisation-wide perspective
  • Establishing the School’s go to market approach to realise the market potential of and business opportunities for MBS
  • Long term relationship building and management with key clients, stakeholders and within targeted industry sectors
  • Establishing and implementing sales and client strategies to achieve revenue and growth targets
  • Achieving revenue targets and departmental financial performance
  • Establishing and maintaining business frameworks to enable appropriate commercially sound contractual arrangements, and profitability margins are met
  • Providing market and demand insights, collaborating with internal stakeholders to develop and maintain market relevance and leadership across the portfolio of the School’s offerings, in addition to shaping the School’s offerings to meet demand
  • Developing and leading a high performing and engaged team.


EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

To be highly effective in this role you will need:

  • An ability to think strategically, taking a whole of School approach, to successfully implement strategic and operational plans that meet business objectives and organisational priorities, whilst navigating challenging markets and complex corporate environments
  • Previous executive and/or senior leadership experience with accountability for the Sales function and team leadership of small to medium sized organisations
  • Results oriented, innovative sales leader with a track record of B2B ‘solution selling’ in the learning/leadership education space
  • Demonstrated presence and ability to articulate a compelling story and the learning solutions suite to corporate and public sector clients
  • High level verbal and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to collaborate, consult and negotiate with a broad range of internal and stakeholders to build strong working relationships and mutually beneficial solutions
  • An ability to adapt to new situations, quickly assimilate new concepts and information, develop and implement innovative solutions to complex strategic and operational issues
  • Success in managing business operations inclusive of business planning and P&L responsibility
  • Strong commercial acumen and service orientation
  • An understanding of the academic environment and capacity to work effectively with academic subject matter experts in engaging clients and designing programs
  • A willingness and tenacity to address organisational challenges, and effect the required plans and changes to support the School’s vision and objectives
  • Commitment to and embodiment of the School’s Guiding Principles, taking an organisation-wide view in your remit.
