The opportunity 

An exceptional leadership opportunity, this role has overarching accountability for the leadership and management of the Corporate Services Group at MBS. This includes oversight of the finance, commercial, information technology, hotel and facilities functions.

The Executive Director Finance & Corporate Services is responsible for policy development, the provision of strategic financial advice, ensuring the financial viability of the School and the efficient and effective use of physical and IT resources to achieve the strategic objectives of the School. 

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Executive Director Finance & Corporate Services also contributes to the development and execution of the School’s strategy, business plans and major decisions that relate to its operations.  

Further key responsibilities include:

  • Development of the Corporate Services Group’s strategic and operational plans
  • With the School’s leadership, develop comprehensive budgets and forecasts, and monitor financial performance.
  • Develop Capital investment strategies for expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.) and underutilised assets.
  • Strategic and operational oversight of the review and management of the policies, systems and processes for the financial planning, analysis, budgeting, funding proposals and acquittals, financial forecasting and reporting functions including Board reporting, compliance with tax and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Additional areas within financial planning and reporting also include preparation of financial business cases for major capital expenditure and managing the cash flow of the organisation.
  • Oversight of the strategic roadmap for the School’s information system (IS) requirements; operational planning and delivery of all IS solutions, including policy development and vendor/third party management.
  • Management of the School’s hotel and conference facilities.
  • Primary co-ordination of Occupational Health and Safety across the School. 

About you

Your Chartered Accountant or CPA status and relevant tertiary qualifications are supported by a depth of leadership and demonstrated success managing the breadth of corporate services functions in a similar sized organisation.

These attributes will be accompanied by: 

  • Experience in strategic and financial planning, policy development, including a demonstrated capacity to develop, implement and evaluate management strategies and initiatives.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current business management issues, concepts and tools; with the knowledge and experience to provide high level advice to organisational leaders in relation to financial strategies, planning and budgeting.
  • Ability to think strategically, taking an organisation-wide view to successfully implement strategic and operational plans that meet business objectives and organisational priorities, whilst navigating complex corporate and/or stakeholder environments.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the willingness and tenacity to address, make and sustain difficult decisions to support the School’s vision and objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with sophisticated verbal and written communication skills alongside the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders at all levels of seniority, both internally and externally
  • Highly motivated with an achievement orientation, accompanied by process-orientation and forward-thinking mindset.
